Position Summary:
The Department of Diagnostic Radiology and Nuclear Medicine at the University of Maryland School of Medicine is seeking a dynamic and forward-thinking Nuclear Medicine physician to join our academic faculty. This recruitment supports the Department’s expanding clinical, educational, and research missions and includes a path for future divisional leadership.

This faculty member will be based at the University of Maryland Medical Center (UMMC), our 800-bed tertiary care flagship hospital in downtown Baltimore, and will contribute meaningfully to nuclear medicine services (diagnostic and therapeutic) across our integrated health system. UMMC is completing a new cancer center in the coming 1-2 years.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
We are seeking a collegial, motivated, and academically oriented physician who will:
- Be board certified in Nuclear Medicine (ABNM) or dual-certified (ABNM/ABR). The candidate should be skilled in nuclear oncology, nuclear cardiology and theranostics.
- Have a minimum of 3 years of academic experience; eligibility for appointment at the Associate Professor level or higher is preferred but not required – rising stars at the Assistant Professor level encouraged to apply.
- Have a record of scholarly activity or active research interests in molecular imaging, theranostics, and clinical trials for development of new radiopharmaceutical agents.
- Demonstrate a strong interest in resident education and taking a leadership role as Associate Program Director and subsequently Program Director. The Department supports an ACGME-accredited Nuclear Medicine residency program with five training positions.
- Be enthusiastic about engaging in programmatic expansion and faculty development, with a willingness to be mentored into a future divisional leadership role.
