Position Summary:
The Department of Radiological Sciences at the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine invites well qualified radiologists to apply for the position of Vice Chair of Education. This is a key leadership role charged with advancing the department’s educational mission across all levels of training, including medical students, residents, fellows, medical physics graduate programs and residency, and continuing medical education. The Vice Chair will guide strategic planning, innovation, and scholarly activity in education and will foster a welcoming and supportive learning environment aligned with the department's commitment to excellence and service to the state of Oklahoma.
Primary Responsibilities:
Educational Leadership
Develop and implement a comprehensive vision for education within the Department of Radiology.
Provide oversight and mentorship to program directors of the radiology residency and subspecialty residency and fellowship programs, and medical physics programs.
Serve as a liaison between the department and the OU College of Medicine’s Office of Medical Education and GME Office.
Undergraduate Medical Education (UME)
Provide oversight and mentorship to Radiology MS3 Clinical Selective Director and Radiology Elective Administrative Manager.
Collaborate with faculty to deliver high-quality radiology instruction to medical students.
Oversee clerkship and elective rotations, ensuring an engaging and welcoming educational experience.
Coordinate with OU College of Medicine curricular leaders to integrate radiology education throughout the UME curriculum.
Engage other graduate programs across the health sciences campus in development of innovative interdisciplinary education programs.
Graduate Medical Education (GME)
Ensure radiology residency and fellowship programs meet or exceed ACGME standards.
Support faculty and program leaders in developing innovative teaching, evaluation, and remediation strategies.
Champion faculty development initiatives in mentorship, teaching effectiveness, and wellness.
Continuing Medical Education (CME)
Oversee departmental CME offerings in alignment with the latest practices and technologies in radiology.
Promote faculty involvement in state and national educational activities and societies.
Educational Scholarship and Innovation
Encourage and facilitate research in radiology education, curriculum development, and pedagogy.
Mentor faculty and trainees in educational scholarship and publications.
Pursue internal and external funding to support educational innovation.
Clinical Expectation
This position will function as a .8 clinical FTE radiologist providing high quality professional interpretation/procedures in the area of their training and expertise.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- MD or DO degree with board certification in Diagnostic Radiology.
- Eligible for medical licensure in Oklahoma.
- Demonstrated experience and success in radiology education at the UME and GME levels.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Track record of educational scholarship and mentorship.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with program accreditation, curriculum design, and education research.
- National leadership in radiology or medical education organizations (e.g., APDR, AUR, RSNA, AAMC).
Salary is commensurate with rank and sub-specialty.
